I came across an awful “top torrent site” list yesterday so I decided to make my own. So Here it is, TorrentFreak’s one and only top torrent sites + firefox search plugins, June 2006. No Login required.
The order is pretty arbitrary, if you don’t like it, make your own list

That site is the best tv-show’s respository out there.

torrentreactor.com/.to is not torrentreactor.net!
you list .com but the search plugin is for .net
the story behind this is, that the .net domain got grabbed (with fake ids) while moving servers about a year ago.
Most of the sites there only index others, or in meganova’s case just rips them from other sites and act as if they where uploaded there by real people. (isohunt etc at least have a list of sites they link to).

www.demonoid.com is truly the best as it is invite only so you always have good seeds, as is tvtorrents.com

Jamendo is absolutely one of the best implementations of bittorrent.

sure for the amount of files pirate bay is top notch
now if you want a 0 day realease with 5 time more seed than leech none of those sites can provide that.
i am not sure how you made this top10list but i am very surprised that you didnot include filelist torrentbytes or scenetorrents probably the 3 best out there ( elitetorrrent rest in peace ). maybe you never of them or you cant get there…
alternatively use bitsoup as it is still open for registration.

I dont recommend joining Demonoid. They have under cover files, when you download a certain file it relays back to your isp and bam, your caught. Demonoid is not private enough. So watch what you download there.

Shady, on leech it only takes me 10/15 mins on a 700mb film, with a 4 meg connection
demonoid is garbage, i used to admin there and i know how it’s run. the owner, deimos, is also very shady, watch out if you’re gonna use that site. i recommend stearing clear of it, there’s much much better torrent sites/trackers out there. i won’t get into specifics i’ll just say if you choose to use it, you’ve been warned.

oink.me : THE music torrent site that is invite only. Speeds of 500kbs. Strict ratio reqs make it the cream of music site. Good luck getting an invite.
bitmetv : Televison torrent site that is also invite only. Shows ranging from moonlighting with bruce willis (remember that) riht up to todays. Their catalogue of old shows is easily the best on the web. Strict ratio reqs make this site awesome as well. Invites are damn hard to get.
torrentleech : Once you get past the initial strict requirements, this is gold. If demonoid/torrent spy/minninova et tal are budweiser/VB/heinnekin, then torrentleech is a micro brew.
Special mention : bitme.org; educational smorgesboard (invite only)
For movie torrents you can’t beat http://www.flixflux.co.uk - which indexes other top sites and combines the results with info about the movie!
is demonoid really that bad??? …why doesn’t anyone say whats wrong with it? you just stop with “wont specify” or “watch out” give us the details of whats going on!

The best site for games I reckon is torrentleech.org. You need to keep up a good ratio and it’s pretty much invite-only but if you can get yourself an invite it’s excellent.

I have used practically all the above and most are good, though I have been more than satisfied with BTJUNKIE for over 6 months now, it’s all I need for for Apps, Movies and albums/discographies . I believe as long as you know how to configure your software/connection and understand the nature of torrents,you can avoid disappointment so educate yourselves. It also pays to have a good look at any info attached to the file name before downloading such as user comments and remember to seed as much as possible. hopefully most of you already knew this.
Big issues with Demonoid! Since Vista came out they spend more time down then they do up, the admins there are completely unresponsive to seeder and torrent loaders!
I have 28 great torrents on there and they are so screwed up right now I can’t even post comments on my own torrents! Took me 12 hours to up 2 new torrents last night, they clearly have a lot of issues! Thats why I stopped in here, I am trying to find one that is more seeder, loader oriented then Duminoid! I will take my 28 torrents, and 12.5 upload ratio somewhere else!!
So looking at it from my side, ( torrent loader) what is the best?

The Pirate Bay you can rack up huge numbers in a hurry, but with out a ration system there is no reason for anyone to seed once they have down loaded, so they don’t Btjunkie is a real life junkie, they can’t score on their own so they steal torrents if you post a torrent on torrentbox or pirate bay or ISOhunt then it shows up automatically on Btjunkie, no wonder their numbers are so high! howdy, i see lots of torrents on IsoHunt and btjunkie w/ tracker http://tracker.prq.to/announce but often can’t find that torrent on a specific website (to read the uploader’s comments or description) …. when you create/open a torrent using this tracker, but don’t upload the torrent to any website, does it appear on IsoHunt and btjunkie? if so, then it can “stay alive” without upping to a website. that also destroys the privateness (lol is that a word?) of your torrent if you wish to share it privately. am i wrong here? peace

there’s a new bittorrents search engine called btDig (www.btdig.com). No great alexa ranking (~7,000,000 :p), but i think this one can go far. hope it will climb the ranks of torrent sites, cos i really like this one.
Just an update for extratorrents.net, they are still having open registrations and are getting a lot of cool new movies! They have also gotten some of the more power users/posters from demonoid and The Pirate bay to join their ranks, ratios are low, and right now you can maintain your ratio by simply seeding as you download!! They are looking for people to post music, and welcome all users! Good chance to get in while registration is open!! When it gets bigger they will close the registration then it will be invites!!

Some of you are retarded. There isn’t a #1 torrent site. It depends on what you are looking for.
Brand new releases: Private trackers with over 10k users (e.g. torrentleech, moviex) are your best bet. Faster speeds, many seeders, first places to get the files. I generally get up to 750 Kb/s on TL
Rare / Old stuff: Any major public tracker, including but not limited to Demonoid, Mininova, and the Pirate Bay. Public trackers have all the new stuff (usually within a day or two) but the speeds are certainly compromised. Speeds on Demonoid rarely exceed 200Kb/s and are typically under 100.
